FORT HALL — Shoshone-Bannock tribal member Gatlin Galloway hunted his first buffalo July 23 on the Fort Hall Bottoms.
Shoshone-Bannock Fish and Wildlife select eight tribal hunters every year to hunt one of the Tribes buffalo in the Bottoms area of the Fort Hall Reservation. Galloway is a son of Sam and Wendy Galloway. Gatlin was initially an alternate but was afforded a hunt after one of the selected hunters withdrew.

Gatlin said he was grateful to be out shooting his first buffalo and that he felt blessed, “Our ancestors used to live off it back in the day, it’s just a blessing to have it now in these time.” Galloway’s wife Tahnee was present and family was there to help him with gutting and taking care of the animal.
