BOISE — Devon Boyer had the opportunity to meet with President Joe Biden on September 13 in Boise where he and about 30 others got to take a photo with him and say a few words.
Devon said he and Shoshone-Paiute Tribal chairman Brian Thomas were there. “I thanked him for being here in Indian Country and he did remember me from the time we met before during the Obama Administration and efforts to make sure that VAWA was signed into law. He thanked me for that and I thanked him back.”
Boyer said in the few moments he had to speak with Biden, he did express that the Tribes appreciate all the funding that’s been available for tribes. He said the Tribes are looking at the ability to possibly have some more funds because the Tribes have a lot of infrastructure that needs done, “We have a lot of internet that needs done and in order to provide health, safety, welfare of this tribe, that also included health care dollars.”
He said that’s about all we really had each one of us, “I don’t’ know what the other tribe got to say because they didn’t allow us to listen to each other but that was how quick it was.”
He said there was a great number of Trump supporters blocking the roads, blocking access and the local law enforcement was able to move those folks aside in order for them to even enter the area they were meeting while they were visiting in Boise.
