FORT HALL — The Tribal Emergency Operations Center reports according to contact tracers, they’re seeing a spike in positive COVID-19 cases from the Eastern Idaho State Fair.
Chief Tahgee Elementary Academy posted on their Facebook page they will be closed until September 20 because of multiple students and staff testing positive for coronavirus.
Travis Martin, Tribal Data Analyst, said the Idaho Department of Public Health advises since July 1, 92% of all cases have been from the Delta variant including 99% in August.
The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes is encouraging the community to get vaccinated. Tribal Health officials are seeing vaccinated individuals get re-infected by unvaccinated individuals within their homes.
Numbers for the week as of September 13 at 4 p.m. Total cases to date: 1,107; total active cases: 56; total currently hospitalized: 3; total recovered to date: 1027; total deceased to date: 24; breakthrough cases: 33; total vaccines given to date: 6,122; vaccines to youth ages 12 to 17 years: 407.
To date the Tribes have given a total of 6,122 vaccines to the Fort Hall community that covers 54% of the reservation population. Of the number 3,255 are fully vaccinated, 407 vaccines have been given to youth by Fort Hall Indian Health Service. The Tribal Data Analyst advised the age ranges most affected by COVID-19 are 25 to 34 and 0 to 9. Data also shows females of every age group lead cases by gender (except ages 18 to 24). Children are encouraged to wear masks since school is in full swing. Those fully vaccinated can still pick up $50 incentive cards at the Not-tsoo Gah-nee clinic (must show vaccine card and Tribal ID or CIB).
“Binax NOW” testing or community screening is still available at the Fort Hall I.H.S. south tent structure from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday – Thursdays only. No appointments are necessary. Please drive up to the registration table at the front entrance for a short intake and thereafter will be directed to the testing tent.
The Not-tsoo Gah-Nee IHS Clinic (I.H.S) is providing the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. I.H.S offers a walk-in clinic on Monday-Wednesday, Friday 9-11 a.m., 1:30-3:30 p.m. Contact 238-5435 (THHS), 208-238-5427 (IHS Medical).
The Shoshone-Bannock Community Health Center (HRSA) is providing the Moderna vaccine. HRSA offers a walk-in clinic on Saturdays from 2 to 7:45 p.m., Sunday-Friday call to schedule 208-478-3987.
