FORT HALL — Shoshone-Bannock tribal member Taylor Faulkner was named Idaho State University Homecoming King during Homecoming week activities.
He’s a senior pursuing a degree in secondary education with an emphasis in mathematics. He said he participated in a lot of campus groups and one is Lambda Theta Phi – a multi cultural fraternity that nominated him for Homecoming King. “I got super lucky being kind,” he said as there were some amazing contestants. “I’m incredibly thankful.”
Faulkner said he and his group had to participate in all of the Homecoming events as they received points and as King he rode in the Homecoming Parade with the Homecoming Queen.
Taylor said he was incredibly surprised, “I didn’t think I was going to get it but I hope to be really good role model in a lot of different ways,” he continued. He hopes that others that may have a mindset of doubt will try to achieve.
He hopes to graduate by 2021 as he had a “wonky” first few years of college. He would like to teach locally in Fort Hall or Pocatello.
