Ballot votes remain same after SBT Primary Election recount

Voting recount in the tribal council chambers on Thursday, April 4.

FORT HALL — The outcome of the Primary Election fifth place finishers remained the same after the Shoshone-Bannock Election Board conducted a hand recount of the ballots April 4, as there was a one-point difference between the two.

Elma Thompson received 158 votes while Claudia Washakie had 157 votes.

Under Sec. 2-2-21, a recount can be requested if there are less than four votes in the outcome between the winning and losing candidate.

Tribal Administrative staff Wendy Galloway, Darla Cates and Sherene Ariwite assisted in recounting the ballots that took a little more than an hour and a half.

Both the Fort Hall Business Council and Election Board ratified the results.
