FORT HALL — Kendra Edmo Martinez is a retired U.S. Navy veteran of the AM3 (aircraft structural mechanic, class 3) and served from 2009 to 2013.
She is the daughter of Whipple Edmo and Kimberly Allen Rice. Her paternal grandparents are Allen “Swede” Edmo and Joette Hutchinson, and her maternal grandparents are Charles Allen and Joan Breed.
“I went into the aircraft structural mechanic because that was what I was set on doing” said Edmo-Martinez.
Aircraft structural mechanics are in charge of the major repairs and the maintenance of aircrafts. They are trained to refuel, upkeep the landing gear and even to fix broken wings of an aircraft.
Edmo-Martinez was on shore duty command and was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida during her service. She now enjoys spending her downtime doing art, she said, “I never had time for that type of stuff or for myself.”
She is currently working towards a degree while being a stay at home mother. She has three children: Joanna, Miki, and Isaac Martinez. She has been married for 10 years to Gabriel Martinez, who is currently serving in the U.S. Navy- AM1 and stationed in Oklahoma City.
Edmo-Martinez said, “I am glad to be home and close to the community that I grew up in. I am happy that my children get to be part of their heritage and to know where they come from.”
