Veterans speak at the powwow Saturday, November 9.
FORT HALL — The Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel Veterans Powwow was November 9 at the Events Center where Southern Style served as the host drum, Bart Powaukee was the emcee and Leo Eaglespeaker was the arena director.
Earlier that morning casino staff conducted a flag raising ceremony as they christened new flag poles in front of the casino property. Military veteran employees raised the U.S. flag, state of Idaho and the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes flag. Michael Mendez led the team of military veteran employees. Fort Hall Business Council Chairman Ladd Edmo offered words of thanks to all military and honored veterans. He led the crowd in a prayer and at 8 a.m. the flags were raised according to a casino press release.

Pamela Gallegos, Casino CEO said it’s important to include the flag poles on the property, “What a wonderful way to begin our day, this weekend as we honor our veterans.”

Veterans were honored after the evening grand entry where they introduced themselves and provided their branch of service. Powwow attendees lined up to shake their hands and give thanks.
