FORT HALL — Chief Tahgee Elementary Academy students were excited to receive new boots for winter on Tuesday, December 1 through the “Give Cold Feet the Boot” campaign.
CTEA Principal Cyd Crue spoke about the holiday giving campaign which is in its second year of giving. Optum Idaho is in partnership with Idaho State Department of Education, C-A-L Ranch, D&B Supply and Bank of Idaho.

Crue said she received an email back in September about the “Give Cold Feet the Boot” program. This year the program will be donating boots to eight schools in the state of Idaho when normally they only donate to four schools.
“We are very grateful that we were included and it’s fun to see the students happy,” said Crue. There are a total of 111 students attending CTEA and each student received a box with their name on it and inside a new pair of boots.
Students eagerly wait their turn to receive their new boots.
According to a press release, “Optum Idaho is committed to serving communities throughout our state,” said Optum Idaho Executive Director Georganne Benjamin. “Thousands of Idaho students arrive at school each morning with cold feet because they don’t have proper winter footwear, which threatens their ability to learn and puts a strain on dedicated teachers, administrators, counselors and support staff. Together with our partners, we are helping to address this concern this winter.”
