FORT HALL — The 2024 Fort Hall New Year’s Rez Baby is Daxton Leslie Bruce Farmer who was born on January 4 to proud parents Kyler Farmer and Savannah Sequints.

The couple, who’ve been together since 2015, didn’t expect to have their son so early. His original due date was on January 10, but he came early because he was breeched. Fortunately, by the time Savannah was induced, he turned and was delivered safely at Portneuf Medical Center at 2:34 p.m.

He weighed 8 pounds and 9 ounces, making him the biggest baby Savannah has delivered. Their family was so excited to see him they took bets on his weight and time they though he would be born.

Daxton was born on January 4 at 2:34 p.m. at Portneuf Medical Center.

Savannah’s pregnancy was full of surprises since the beginning, when after the first ultrasound it was originally thought the baby was going to be a girl. It was during their second ultrasound at the end of October they found out they were having a boy.

Savannah said she’s happy to have another son, who is the newest little brother to Kyson, Kennedy and Kensley. Savannah said the siblings have already showed him lots of love and affection since his arrival.

Daxton was named by his father, who chose the name because he thought it was unique. His middle names honor both of his grandfather’s.

Daxton’s grandparents are Motor and Rhonda Sequints and Pat and Jennifer Cotton.

Since he’s been home Daxton enjoys being in his willowboard, which was made by different members of his family. Savannah says she sticks to using the board for her little ones and called it her “secret weapon.” Adding, she doesn’t see a lot of people carrying their babies in boards anymore.

Daxton’s parents said he’s a good baby and only cries when he’s hungry or needs a diaper change.

Savannah was surprised to find out they had the New Year’s Rez Baby, as her sister had the 2023 baby. Savannah said she was honored to have the first baby on the Fort Hall reservation for 2024 and is grateful to all who’ve donated items on behalf of their son.
