FORT HALL — The Fort Hall Business Council decided to proceed with the 2022 Shoshone-Bannock Festival and related events after a two-year cancellation because of COVID-19 safety concerns.
The 4-day event is scheduled August 11 through 14. To ensure public safety for the annual event the FHBC is requiring COVID-19 safety plans for all events. “We look forward to having our celebrations again, but we want to make sure everyone who chooses to attend is safe,” according to a FHBC press release.
The Fort Hall Festival has been an annual event since 1964, until the COVID-19 interrupted the popular powwow and related events. The annual Festival also includes other festivities such as the powwow, arts and craft vendors, art show, Indian Relay races, rodeo, traditional buffalo & salmon feast, royalty contest, softball tournaments, handgame, golf, and parade.
The Business Council is advertising for a new Shoshone-Bannock Festival Coordinator for a two-year term. Once a Festival Coordinator is selected, additional information and updates will be available on the Festival website www.shobanfestival.com, the Festival Facebook page and the Festival Instagram page.
