Early Childhood hosts annual powwow; Princess & Brave selected

FORT HALL — On Friday, February 14, the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes Early Childhood Program hosted their annual children’s powwow at Timbee Hall.

They started off with a prayer from Jerry Bear and grand entry with local veteran Nolan Thorpe bringing in the American Flag.

The new Early Childhood royalty was crowned and they include: Princess Humble Coby, first attendant Stella Blackwater, second attendant Tsaily Johnson. The Brave is Denver Yazzie and first attendant Zilo Jim.

The powwow committee included all dance categories, along with hosting a sweethearts owl dance contest at the end of the powwow. Six local drums attended who appeared to bring good feelings and songs.

Powwow results: Junior Girls Fancy: First Neena Crue, second Alicia Johnson, third Divina Villarreal and fourth Milo Pandoah. Junior Boys Fancy: First Demarcus Pebeahsy. Junior Boys Grass: First: Benjamin Crue, second Johnny Yazzie, third Darryl Yazzie and fourth Denver Yazzie. Junior Girls Jingle First: Elaya Villarreal, second Audrina Davis, third Leorah Honena fourth Humble Coby. Junior Boys Traditional: First: Kyson LongHat, second Adonis Osborne, third Traestan Beasley. Junior Girls Traditional First: Evah Dann, second Sophina Edmo,
third Ellanis Stagner, fourth Yabba Sammaripa. Teen Boys Fancy: First: Keen Wilson, second Tristan Cornpeach. Teen Girls Fancy First: Gabrielle Appenay, second Evah Dann, third Amaya Galloway.

Women’s Traditional: First: Jessie Rae Cruz, second Scarlette Stagner. Sweetheart Owl Dance First: Janice Julianto and Chris Caskey, second Traditional Dann and Tristan Cornpeach. Men’s Traditional: First: Skye’J Beasley. Woman’s Golden Age Combined First: Thomiscita Mountain Sheep, second Nummie Osborne, third Leona Taylor.
