FORT HALL — The Ross Fork Community Center is temporarily dark after someone vandalized the electric meter over the weekend.

The person responsible may have been shocked as the tool being used was laying on the ground.

It was discovered after residents reported the backup generator was running that was put in during the recent building renovation.

It’s not definite if someone was trying to steal the meter or if the person was trying to disable the power to break into the building.

Utility meter hangs off the box.

Tribal Construction Services Manager Kimberly Dixey said in the meantime, her crew is putting a fence around the generator and posting signs.

The incident had to be reported to the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes insurance provider and a report was filed with the Fort Hall Police.

Tribal Property Manager Lizzie Boyd said they’re processing an emergency order to replace the meter.
