BOISE — The Boise State University Seven Arrows Powwow was March 30 and 31 at Extra Mile Arena where Shoshone-Bannock grass dancer Cailan Dann served as head man dancer.

He and his family hosted a men’s grass dance special Saturday afternoon where Randy Paskemin won first, Theiren Paskemin was second, Joseph Baldwin was third and Michael Eldridge was fourth. In addition to cash, the winners were awarded gifts such as bells, furs and an otter hoop Cailan’s grandfather Mike Dann donated.

Cailen said it had been a while since he was asked to be a grass dancer but he had a special planned years ago. His father Coleman used to dance the older style and he wanted to see that along with contemporary style – it was mixed.
He said he liked being at Boise State and urge anyone to come out to enjoy the powwow.

At the beginning of each session, the head man and woman dancer were asked to come out and dance prior to it starting.

The head woman dancer was Nadina Delgado from the Te-moak Tribe of Western Shoshone. She hosted a teen girls category all-around fancy, jingle and traditional. She picked winners in each of the categories.
Host drum was Walking Buffalo from Saskatchewan, Canada, master of ceremonies was Alex Bluff, a Kalispel and the arena director was Merlin Kickingwoman Sr., Blackfeet.
