Sage Hill Cafe reopens day after small kitchen fire

FORT HALL — The Sage Hill Café reopened after the Fort Hall Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire April 6 at 6:15 a.m.

Carlie Jim, Tribal Enterprises retail operations manager, said the fire was not as serious as initial reports made it sound but could have been if staff didn’t react appropriately. “There were no injuries or damage to any equipment or structures. It was a small, contained grease fire on the char broiler.”

The fire suppression system was not activated but the FHFD wanted it inspected by a licensed technician before the café could reopen. “After cleanup and clearance from the FHFD, the café reopened for regular business hours the following morning,” Jim said.

There was no damage to the building.
