2023 Festival Coordinator Joseph Wadsworth

FORT HALL — Joseph Wadsworth was recently selected as the Festival Coordinator for 2023.
When asked why did he want to be the festival coordinator, Wadsworth said “The time frame for the Festival was getting very short, there wasn’t anybody being selected so I volunteered basically, to help more qualified people be selected.”
Wadsworth spoke about some of the responsibilities with being the Festival Coordinator including delegating positions, making sure everything runs smoothly, and also organizing all of the different committees.
He hit the ground running since being selected May 4, it’s been “Nonstop calling individuals and other departments making sure we can get information out to everyone in Indian Country,” he said. When asked what’s the favorite part of the job “Knowing things are being accomplished since the Festival is only 3 months away, it’s fun and I enjoy the people I selected to be on committees.”
Wadsworth has previous experience organizing smaller events powwows and pageantry’s, he said “I won’t micromanage these committees, I selected these people for their assets through their connections to have a better festival.” Wadsworth said, “I would like the community to know that this position means a lot to me, and I really appreciate all the support that I have received on social media and in person.”
With only three months left before the Festival, he is busy trying to update the arbor and facilities for this year and next year because the Festival Coordinator position is for two years. Wadsworth said “ I welcome all visitors, participants, dancers, drummers, vendors, and all surrounding communities to come enjoy the Festival.”
