FORT HALL — Rainy weather didn’t dampen the plans for Chief Tahgee Elementary Academy Fun Day, which took place on Friday, May 24, to mark the end of the school year.

Instead of holding their celebration at the school they took it over to Timbee Hall where families joined students for lunch. Afterwards the students played games or jumped on inflatables until the end of the day.

Cyd Crue, Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction, said they had a good turnout for breakfast and lunch. The Fort Hall Fire Department came out to help serve. She said the always celebrate Chief Tahgee Day because the Sho-Ban Tribes proclaimed it a holiday. On Thursday the students had an honor awards ceremony.

There were 96 students enrolled at CTEA this school year. Seven of the students excelled in the Shoshone language program this year and were put in a program called the Language Nest with elders. Next year they hope to expand the program. The kindergarten students can count up to 100.

Crue would like parents to know the school is very thankful for their support and they are glad so many came out, mostly that they trust them with their children. She wishes everyone a great summer and she looks forward to seeing everyone in August.
