Sho-Ban Tribes receive additional coronavirus relief funds

Submitted by YVETTE TUELL
Office of Public Affairs

FORT HALL — The Tribes have recently received an additional $7.9 million from the US Treasury for COVID-19 Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF), on top of the $13.7 million received earlier, for a total of $21.6 million.

The U.S. Treasury issued CRF funds in two different payments, with the first 60% issued in May and the second payment received on June 15. The funding is provided to tribes to assist in relief assistance because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The State of Idaho also has CRF funding available for tribes, and the Tribes did apply for the $200,000 that was allocated by Congress to the Tribes.  The State has received the application but it unclear when payment will be distributed to the Tribes.
