FORT HALL — The Fort Hall Business Council approved the Tribal Election Board’s recommendation to have the referendum vote on the Mountain Home economic project for Friday, September 23.
The election will be in person at all five reservation district lodges.
Shoshone-Bannock tribal voters in attendance at the Annual Meeting voted to put the Mountain Home Casino project in a yes or no referendum vote within 90 days (GNCL-2022-0408). The FHBC ratified the resolution in June and determined the eligible voters are Shoshone-Bannock tribal members who are 21 years of age and older that have maintained a legal residence on the Fort Hall Reservation.
The Tribes purchased 157 acres of land at Mountain Home to develop the proposed casino.
The actual referendum language for the ballot is still in the works.
