FORT HALL — The Michaud Creek Fire was controlled September 16 around 6 p.m. said Fort Hall Assistant Fire Chief Eric King.
The fire began around 1 p.m. September 15 that burned two small outbuildings, along with two unoccupied trailer houses and about 262 acres. Wind upwards of 45 to 50 miles per hour caused the fire to escalate. The fire was south of the Pocatello Airport.
King said the fire began on fee land then crossed back and forth on tribal land.
The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes Emergency Operations Center was activated. In addition to Fort Hall Fire Department, other agencies assisting included American Falls, Inkom, Pocatello Valley, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs Wildland Fire, Tribal Fish and Game, Idaho State Police, Power County Sheriff’s and Bannock County Sheriff’s that helped close off Trail Creek.
