Sho-Ban tribal members & community celebrate Indian Day at annual powwow

FORT HALL — The Shoshone-Bannock Indian Day powwow was September 26 at the Shoshone-Bannock Jr./Sr. High School where Tyson Shay served as emcee, Young Buffalo was the host drum and Lyman Dixey was arena director.


Miss Shoshone-Bannock Tay'a Osborne accompanies Indian Day and local royalty at the evening powwow grand entry on September 26.

There were 92 dancers registered. Following are the results.

Women’s Golden Age: First: Shirley Reeder, second Michelle Kipp and third Sandra Plentywounds.

Junior Girls Fancy Shawl: First: Ellanis Stagner, second Cambri Lynn Buckskin and third Mariella Eldridge. Junior Girls Jingle: First: Niomi Coby Yazzie, second Monyia Archuleta and third Darling Pokibro. Junior Girls Traditional: First: Paisley Pokibro and second Aenireh Eldridge.


Junior Girl’s 1st place Fancy Shawl dancer Ellanis Stagner.

Junior Boys Fancy Feather: First: Johnny Yazzie. Junior Boys Grass: First: AingaHuchu Shongutsie, second Conner Honena and third Darryl Yazzie. Junior Boys Traditional: First: Beah Nove Hill, second Calvin Larkin Johnson and third Adonis Osborne.


Indian Day Powwow Adult Men’s Fancy Feather 1st place dancer Tristan Cornpeach.

Teen Girls Fancy Shawl: First: Navee Hill, second Tia Worley and third Eliseahna Evening. Teen Girls Jingle: First: Logan Wahtomy, second Kimora Graves Pevo and third Charlotte Bighair. Teen Girls Traditional: First: Envy Beasley, second Milania Fisher and third Susan Avila-Dixey.

Teen Boys Grass: First: Reden Kutch. Teen Boys Traditional: First: Braxton Wahtomy, second Soni Cornpeach and third Kenai Corona.

Adult Women’s Fancy Shawl: First: Kiahna Shongutsie, second Ontaria Arrow White and third Ashra Benally.

Adults Women’s Jingle: First: December Ariwite, second Kira Murillo and third Nakoosa Jack. Adult Women’s Traditional: First: Stormie Perdash, second Kree Perdash and third JessiRae Wilder.

Adult Men’s Fancy Feather: First: Tristan Cornpeach, second Nakeezaka Jack and third Hunter Osborne. Adult Men’s Grass: First: Michael Eldridge, second Michael Bahe and third Joseph Baldwin. Adult Men’s Traditional: First: Glen Garcia, second Skye Beasley and third Leo EagleSpeaker.
