Major Liberty Reyes
POCATELLO — After 22 years of service, Major Liberty D. Reyes is retiring from the Nevada Army National Guard as a U.S. Army Logistics Corps officer.
She currently works as Chief of Staff to the Business Committee for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians in Highland, Calif.
Major Reyes started her military career with the Idaho National Guard while studying Mass Communications at Idaho State University. She attended basic training in 1999 at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. as a 74D Chemical Specialist and served with the HHC 116th CAV HBCT in Boise.
In 2006, Major Reyes entered the traditional program for Officer Candidate School while working as Marketing Director for the Fort Hall Casino. In 2008, Major Reyes was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and served as the Distribution Platoon Leader under the 145th BSB G Co.
In 2010, Major Reyes relocated to Las Vegas, branched Ordinance, and joined the 150th Maintenance Company as the Armament Platoon Leader and Det OIC. She served with the 150th for five years, three of them as Company Commander.
She is married to Antonio Reyes and they have three children, twins Keila and Quashaunna, 18, and Alexander, 9.
Reyes was born in Pocatello. She is an enrolled member of the Shoshone- Bannock Tribes and daughter of Angelea Mendez and Lawrence Toledo.
