BOISE — U.S. Marine Captain Anneliese Satz, Shoshone-Bannock, is featured on the cover of the publication “Indigenous Firsts: A History of Native American Achievements and Events."
The publication focuses on Indigenous Native people who have had a profound impact on their communities, their nations and the world in wide-ranging areas.
Anneliese is the first woman to pilot an F-35B jet. The Fort Hall Business Council honored her and her husband Anthony Pompei, who is also a Marine pilot, in September 2021. She explained at the time, her and her husband are both stationed in Japan and will be there for a few years. They fly the F35 jets off of LHA and LHD ships that have enlarged hangar decks.
At the time, she said it’s a great job and “It’s an honor to be able to serve our country in that way – a fun and challenging way.”
She is the daughter of Tzo Nah and her grandparents are Edward and Olive Boyer.
Visible Ink Press publishes the book and it is distributed by Publishers Group West and the price is $32.95.
Indigenous Firsts celebrates thousands of accomplishments and victories of both Indigenous individuals, organizations and nations according to a press release. It is a study of perseverance and everyday hard work among individuals and communities as it chronicles significant milestones and events.
