FORT HALL — Sundt Construction is currently working on paving the third lift of the asphalt job wide on the Exit 80 construction and they’re hoping to have 95% of it completed by the end of this week, said Matthew Szpak, construction superintendent.
All that remains of paving after that is the approaches tying into phase two of the bridge.
Szpak said phase 2 girders started Monday night, “Three were set with the other three on span 1 to be placed Tuesday night.” He said walls are complete and they’re currently working on shaping up slopes to get a nice, aesthetic look.
Once all of the girders are set they will continue working on forming up the deck and barrier wall on the bridge in an effort to open phase 2 of the bridge.
Szpak said they’re pushing to be substantially complete before Christmas. “There are a few temperature sensitive items that will need to wait until spring to complete, however the bridge will be functioning as intended.”
