FORT HALL — Mr. & Mrs. Claus made their way through Fort Hall atop the Fort Hall Fire Department’s fire engine during the Recreation Program’s annual Parade of Lights event December 10.
Before the event began, Fort Hall Recreation Program Manager, Mike Sakelaris directed the floats as they lined up. He was amazed at how much the event has grown.
“This is so fun though, this is one of the funnest things we do,” he said.

The parade route started at Timbee Hall, went down Hiline road, up Ross Fork Road, across Eagle Road and back down Agency Road. Cars lined the roads as excited children and their families stood in awe of the lights and happily grabbed for parade candy.

There were 15 floats participating representing Shoshone-Bannock Tribal departments, Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel, as well as local businesses, and a couple of horseback riders.
Many of the floats were decorated with familiar Christmas theme characters, such as the Grinch, Snoopy and Nightmare Before Christmas.

However, the Language & Culture Preservation Department had a traditional tipi theme complete with a light up fire place, horses, buffalo and sage brush. Counseling & Family Services also featured a lit up tipi frame on their float.
The Fort Hall Youth Council had a hot cocoa fundraiser to warm up the crowd.
The holiday fun continues on Saturday, December 17 at noon when Santa and Mrs. Claus will return to Timbee Hall to visit and deliver gift bags to children.
